VTOL Canard Concept

This is based on a Defiant fuselage. Both canard and main wings rotate 90 degrees to vertical for takeoff and landing. Three independent rotary engines in pods.

Paul Lamar came up with a revival of the pogo tail sitter from the 1950s. Using a canard configuration, it will be much more stable sitting on the ground. I like this idea better as it is mechanically simple. With modern computer fly-by-wire and radar altimeter, the landing can be automated for touch down at a precise GPS coordinate. With automated landing the pilot's seat does not have to rotate for visibility, also keeping the design mechanically simple. I will be further developing this concept in X-plane.
